My name is Fungisai Puleng Gwanzura Ottemöller. I am a a mother, a doula, a poet and an academic traversing a journey of self-discovery and growth. This journey began in 2019, the year I turned 50. I started to question, where I was, what I was doing, who I had become and how I had settled into a rut, sleep walking through my life.  My journey has forced me to look within, look into the dark corners of my life and make peace with my past mistakes and failures. I have begun to learn about self love and self care, about how to trust my intuition and to see the good in me, ackowledge my gifts and not only focus on my weaknesses. To accept who I am and what brought me here – to embrace all of me.

We are all capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for. We don’t need certificates, experts or gurus to give us permission. All we need is within us, we just have to give ourselves time and space and make the effort to find it. My journey is just beginning.  I am stepping out of my comfort zone and into my power, by being here, revealing my vulnerability and sharing this journey with you throught my podcast, poetry and reflections.
